OK I feel like donating some info lets go to wheels. Why?????? cause the wheel is the most important invention evar!!!!! and a car is composed of 4 of 'em, remove one and the car doesnt werk [unless u running skidplate racing..........youtube it].
so....lets get started......
A car wheel is composed of the following components
Rim
Tyre
lets do the rim first as that is easier
Rim
- the rim's main purpose is to connect the car to the rim. this pic is of your typical sport car rim [BBS RS-GTis the name of em] of course rims are made of varied materials eg, aluminium alloy [comes in different mixes], the rare carbon fibre and the all common steelies. no two materials are the same as u can have a steel rim and an aluminium alloy rim of the exact same size and build will
- a) have different weights
- b) have different strengths
- c) have different prices
carbon fibre is expensive, strong and light
while aluminium alloys are in the middle.
rims are measured by its diameter in inches and along its width in millimetres, the larger these values are, the better handling of a car gets as it means u can get more tyre on the rim, but all these big numbers add up to weight which is not something you want as it will just cancel out the handling properties
for a car it is best to have your rim as light as possible no matter what your set up for [except off roading where the aim is as strong as possible] what happens is that the whole rim and tyre assembly is a part of the car called the unsprung weight, that means its weight doesnt affect the suspension......................or simply put imagine your running away from a random brown girl and you happen to have a big heavy bag on u isnt it easier to run around with the bag on ur back than carrying it in your hands???........ya so ur hands can be thought of as unsprung weight, somewhat. i think thats it for rims
if your lost by now hush but onwards to the tyre......next blog!!!!
