Insanity needs company: 2 engines>1

There are some insane contraptions in the auto world, most involve putting engines where they don't belong. For example V8 powered Mini's, V8 powered Caterham's, V8 powered RX7's etc etc. The insane factor then gets dialed to 11 when you start putting aircraft engines in Porsches, MR2s and Mustangs. Applications for entrance into the loony bin can be recommending once you start doubling up engines. This blog is just a short one/two sentence on some twin engined vehicles that stood out to me. As for that picture up there, The "Freight Train," none are that awesome.

Cizeta V16T

Cizeta has created only one car, so rare that most people don't know it exists. It's designed is inspired by Lamborghini [mainly as it was designed by ex-Lambo employees] but that's where the similarities between any normal car ends. Apart from those quirky quad flip up headlights it had a quirky engine. Although it says V16, it actually uses 2 V8s with a transmission in the middle. To add to the weirdness, the engine is mounted transversely [as a rule of thumb you don't mount anything longer than a V8 transversly, this is 2 V8s and a bit in length] and the transmission is mounted longitudinally [normally both are mounted transversely or longitudinally] [*tip transverse engines are mounted sideways in a car and are setup with the engine on top of the transmission, longitudinal engines are mounted long ways in a car with the transmission behind the engine.]

Specs: 2x 3.0L V8s / 540hp / 400lbft / 1700kg / insanity level: looney

Tiger Z100

First saw this crackpot vehicle on 5th Gear and thought [expletives]. This video explains the insanity more than I can but let me it up. Two Kawasaki ZX1200 engines, one for the front wheels and one for the back wheels. Despite being heavier than most Lotus 7 derivatives, this is one of the more powerful [and so far the only 4WD one]

Specs: 2x 1.2L Inline 4s / 408hp / 615kg / insanity level: crackpot

VW W engine [W8 / W12 / W16]

In the 80's VW created the VR engine, a bastard mix between the V engine and the inline engine. It was absolute genius and brought forth the super compact Corrados and Golfs VR6 units. It was so loved that even Porsche uses it. It's super compactness then brought forth more experiments. By mating two VR6s together in a V, the W12 was born. The super compact 12 cylinder found its way into top of the line VW and Audi's while it served as the motor for the baby Bentley Continental GT. The W12 went on to hold records for the fastest 4 seater [Bentley Continental GT] and fastest 4 door [Bentley Flying Spur]. VW's newest marque, Bugatti, was up on the rise in search of a new engine. Experiments gave birth to the insane 1000hp [now 1200hp] Bugatti Veyron W16. The Veyron broke the overall top speed record by a huge margin in both 1000hp and 1200hp flavors. Insane video of the Veyron.

Specs: 8.0L W16 quad turbo / 1200hp / 1106lbft / 268mph / 1888kg / insanity level: nutters

Jeep Hurricane

This is the most epic thing to come out of Chrysler since the Superbird. Shortly after the relaunch of their 5.7L Hemi engine, they stuffed it in everything; the 300C, Ram, Magnum and all sorta Jeep models. Their most extreme implant was the Jeep Hurricane Concept. Not only did it have a 5.7L Hemi, it had an extra 5.7L Hemi around the back. Add a carbon fibre tub and the world most complex/epic 4 wheel steer system and you have a winrar. Video of the steering

Specs: 2x 5.7L V8 / 670hp / 740 lbft / 1746kg / insanity level: actually bordering on cool

Audi MTM Bimoto

Ok this is the only aftermarket one but its worth mentioning that this is one of [if not the] fastest modified vehicle on Earth. It used to run on two Audi 1.8L 4 cylinders that made 400hp each. Now it rocks 2.0L 4 cylinders that make 500hp each. Top speed.....242mph. Video of the 800hp one

Specs: 2x 2.0L L4 turbo / 1000hp / 242 mph
