So like, I'm uploading my portfolio, and its taking ridiculously long to complete, so in the meanwhile enjoy a summary of today's Monaco GP.
Now unfortunately I did not get to go there live so all the pics in this post is taken from Autoblog's review [you can read that if you want to here]
Picking up where I left off in my previous Monaco post;
At the start, Webber was on pole for Red Bull with Kubica in 2nd for Renault and Vettel in 3rd in the next Red Bull car. At the start of the race Vettel lunged his car behing his teammate's in order to steal second from Kubica, the strategy worked. The first lap continued on cleanly until Nico Hulkenberg slammed his Williams car at the end of the tunnel calling the Safety Car out. The safety car took it's toll on last year's winner Jenson Button, who's car overheated from a vent cover accidentally left on by the engineers.
While the safety car was going around Ferrari did a quick job in the pits, bringing in Alonso to change tyres on the 1st lap to take advantage of the tyre changing rule [rules state that each car must use 2 different tyres throughout the race].
After this pit Alonso was clear for the rest of the race and time behind the safety car ensured he was right up on the bumper of the 21st place car. As lap passed one by one Alonso overtook the slow runners, each time at the chicane after the tunnel. He did this until it reached pit time for everyone else, while everyone was pitting, he overtook them jumping up to an amazing 8th spot.
Midway through the race Rubens Barichello brought out the 2nd safety car after suspension failure sent him into the wall. After this crash the race tapered off in excitement until 3 laps to go when the Lotus of Jarno Trulli and the Virgin HRT of Karun Chandok collided on the final corner, nearly taking out race leader Webber. This brought out the final safety car of the day ending the race under the safety car... but in a sneaky ninja move, Michael Schumacher passed Alonso on the final corner after the safety car went into the pits. [Normal rules states that passing is not allowed once the safety car is on the track, but when the race ends under a safety car the safety car has to go in the pits before the checkered flag, no passing is allowed until the finish line] Both the collision and a glimpse of Schumacher [silver car] tries to overtake Alonso [red car] is seen in the pic below.
The race ended as it started, Webber, Vettel and Kubica with Alonso giving the crowd the show of the year. Red Bull finished on top of the constructor points with Webber and Vettel tied for first spot in the driver's listing. Monaco never disappoints, especially if you're a Red Bull fan like me :)
